Christmas Home Tour 2016 and a Surprise!

Good morning, I hope you had an excellent weekend.  As we’re only 13 days away from Christmas I thought it was a great time to show you my house all decked out for the holiday.  It’s so interesting decorating this new house for holidays and figuring out where to put things.  I’m hoping next year goes a little faster since it won’t be the first time.

There are a ton of pictures in this post, so I’ll let them do most of the talking and keep the reading to a minimum.  I hope you enjoy our home, and I wish you could see it in person!  If you were here in person you could help eat the million and one Christmas cookies that are at my house right now!

Let’s get started in the office, entry way, and half bathroom.

Now onto the living room, with a very big surprise reveal.  Can you spot it?

The mantle came from an old barn in Ohio and it took three big guys to get it in place.  Needless to say, it’s not going anywhere.  I do think I’ll use some greenery next year in addition to the stockings.  I’m also looking forward to decorating the mantle throughout the entire year.

That’s it folks, I hope you enjoyed the little tour around our house at Christmas.  We actually won’t be celebrating Christmas here this year, as we’ll be with family.  That’s part of the reason I started decorating before Thanksgiving (gasp!).  I have gotten to enjoy it all just as long as if I waited until after Thanksgiving.

What’s your favorite part of decorating?  I think my new favorite part is definitely hanging the stockings!  Merry Christmas!

FREE Printable Christmas Bucket List

Happy December everyone!  Around here we are in full Christmas celebrating mode.  Decorating, gifting, lights, and baking, it’s all happening now that we’re 25 days away from Christmas!  Let’s all try and make the most out of the season this year and really celebrate it.  To help, I’ve put together a great list of things to get you in the holiday spirit.  Scroll down to see the 2016 Christmas Bucket List.

Get in the holiday spirit with this FREE Christmas Bucket List Printable. Click here for the download! My family has already crossed a few of these fun things off of our list.  Thanks to our cute little town, we’ve attended a tree lighting ceremony and did a carriage ride down Main Street.  Both were so fun and got our holiday season off to a great start!

This bucket list is a great way to make the season not about the “stuff” but about the experiences and memories for you and your kids.  Sitting around and listening to my husband and his siblings talk about their childhood is one of my favorite things.  It was chock full of memories and experiences, traditions and most of all love.  This is the time of year to make those memories with your own kids.

How great will it be in 10, 15, or 20 years from now to hear your kids talk about how every Christmas your family did X,Y, and Z.  They will love having the tradition and doing the same thing every year.

I hope this bucket list will get you excited for the season and give you ideas of traditions to start with your own family.  There are 16 ideas listed and plenty of time to do them all.  Even if you have to combine a few.  Make hot chocolate, then go around the neighborhood and look at Christmas lights.  Or, put a puzzle together while watching a Christmas movie.  There are a lot of ways to cross all of these off throughout the season.

5 Ways to Start Your Holiday Shopping NOW

So, news flash!  It’s late October, and I know it may seem early, but Christmas will be here before you even blink!  So today I’m helping you get started shopping early.  Hopefully you can knock out a lot of people on your list and be done before Thanksgiving!  Talk about having a stress free holiday season, this is the way to do it!

Since I’ve started Rodan and Fields, I have a whole new respect for small businesses, direct sales, and especially women entrepreneurs.  I’m sharing four other women who are working hard to support their families and are passing on some great products and specials to you just in time for the holidays.

I recently met my new friend Becky and wanted to share her LuLaRoe business with you.  I’ve also become a huge fan of LuLaRoe, and all of their super comfy, super cute, clothes.  If you’re unfamiliar with LuLaRoe, it’s a fashion company that sells through fashion consultants.  Becky carries women’s skirts, tops, dresses and leggings in sizes 0-26 and everything is unique. LuLaRoe only makes 2500 items in each print which makes each print rare. They’re best known for their buttery soft leggings but all the styles are comfortable and flattering on women of all body types.

I can personally attest that the leggings are so soft, they feel like a second skin basically.  So comfy!  Becky’s inventory is always changing so be sure to check her Facebook page for her current inventory.  If you’re interested, head to her Facebook page on Thursday’s for pop-up shops and to see all the latest and greatest, including Halloween leggings!  She’s also offering a “Cyber Monday” sale where you can get some great gifts for yourself, your kids, and even the men in your life at a discount!

To purchase: contact Becky at lulabecky@gmail.com or her Facebook page here.

One of my forever friends is always wearing something meaningful, her jewelry!!  If you haven’t heard of Origami Owl, it’s unique, personalized, and versatile jewelry.

Wrapping Paper Resources

Recently my sister-in-law and I were discussing how we can’t leave Marshall’s, Homegoods, or TJMaxx without picking up a roll or two of wrapping paper.  Shockingly though, I left TJMaxx last week without grabbing any.  I think hell may have frozen over, but I’m pretty sure it’s because most of my Christmas wrapping is already done.  Have you started yours yet?  If not, I’ve got a great post today sharing some wrapping paper resources.

If you need ideas on where to buy wrapping paper or inspiration on how to wrap just keep reading below!

Christmas wrapping

This set of packages is wrapped with Target Dollar Spot wrapping paper and yard sale ribbon.  Target Dollar Spot has great seasonal options for wrapping paper and they are usually only a dollar or two.  Plus, they are a great size for wrapping smaller items, so you don’t feel like you’re wasting a ton of wrapping paper.

I have to thank my husband for most of my ribbon stash.  He channels his inner old man on Saturday mornings and we usually go yard sale-ing, but we find great deals on ribbon.  I typically find brand new rolls for only a few cents.  Once yard sale season rolls around again, I highly suggest looking for Christmas wrapping goodies.

Christmas Wrapping

This package is again adorned with yard sale ribbon, and the paper was found at Hobby Lobby on super sale at the end of the Christmas season last year.  Even if you can’t find any wrapping paper on sale at Hobby Lobby, you can usually Google a 40-50% off coupon.  The bonus about getting wrapping paper at Hobby Lobby is that the paper is very thick and typically has a million yards on each roll.

Christmas wrapping

This third package is wrapped in some music note wrapping paper I’ve had for awhile (and can’t remember where I purchased it) and baker’s twine.  Baker’s twine is a great alternative to ribbon because you can get a huge roll of it fairly inexpensively.  Plus, you can use it as it’s intended when you’re baking as well.

Here are all of our packages wrapped up in ribbons and bows under the tree ready to be torn open on Christmas morning!
