It’s July 1st already, and I know you’re only thinking about eating all kinds of BBQ and watching fireworks this weekend. However, the first of the month is pretty important. It’s a great time to set some goals!
I like to take some time to set goals at the beginning of each month, and even each week. Spending some time to think about what you want to accomplish and how to do it gives you a much better chance at actually accomplishing your goals.
This month I have three sections of goals. A list for my personal goals, one for the blog, and one for my Rodan and Fields skin care business. Because I have a lot of things I’m trying to accomplish, it helps me to write them down, organized in their own sections.
I have some pretty lofty goals so I am going to be working hard and hustling to try and reach them. My goal list is black and white, so there isn’t any grey area as to what I need to do.
I recently listened to a training that talked about goals. In the training, it was said that if you are doing activity everyday towards your goals then you’ll reach them. Based on that training, I tried to focus on what activity and how much I was going to be doing to reach my goals. This month is also very busy with traveling, guests, birthdays, and holidays so making my goals specific is going to help me in staying focused.
Goal Setting Tips
- Make your goals more attractive by making them pretty. Decorate your goal list, doodle on it, use fun colors. Spending a couple more minutes making it look nice will give you more time to really think about your goals and how you’re going to achieve them.
- Be sure to display them where you will see them everyday; in your calendar, on your bathroom mirror or taped to the edge of your computer. If you took a few extra minutes to make them pretty you will want them to be out in the open.
- This tip is used quite a bit, but make your goals SMART. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely.
- Check in with your goals each week and see if you are doing what needs to be done to reach them by the end of the month.
Like I said before, I have some lofty goals this month, but hopefully putting them out on the internet will be the motivation I need to cross every one of them off of my list. Be sure to send some good vibes my way this month as I work towards my goals. I may just post at the end of the month how successful I was completing the list.
Do you make a goal list every month? What’s your biggest tip to achieving them? Have a great 4th of July weekend!
Good luck on your goals! I am the worst at setting goals for myself… Usually, my only goal is not to spend too much money on delivery. Then I end up getting DoorDash twice a week.
Haha! Well, you’ve got to eat! Thanks for the well wishes!
