This week on the podcast I’m back to interviewing guests! For the past few weeks I’ve done several solo episodes talking about my party planning process (here and here) and also my look back on five years of blogging. This week though, I’m talking with Sarah Weeldreyer about her journey as a military spouse and entertaining teenagers.
I met Sarah through a previous boss of mine in the Navy and she is just so warm and inviting, I know you’re going to love listening to this episode.
Hear All About the Teenagers (Plus More) In The Episode
- In this episode you’ll hear about Sarah’s background that wasn’t affiliated with the military at all. Until she met a boy. That’s how the story goes doesn’t it? Sarah shares her story of a difficult entrance into military spouse life and settling in and embracing military spouses.
- If you’ve ever felt like you came late to the game or felt like you were on the JV squad I know you’ll connect with Sarah. She became a military spouse after a successful career in the White House and felt as if she was playing catch up in the military spouse game. I can tell you from personal experience, she’s great at it. So don’t let her fool you!
- We talked about moving, as it’s always part of our lives, and she shared some excellent advice on what to look for in a neighborhood. A few things I hadn’t thought about before that are key indicators of a great neighborhood.
- Sarah and I then had an in depth conversation on raising teenagers. How to delay them from getting a phone. How to entertain them and their friends in your home. And also whether or not you create bonds with their friends’ parents the same way when they are teenagers.
- I loved her answers to the “last call” questions. There is a really great party theme idea and you’ll also hear about learning lessons when parties don’t go the way you envisioned them.
