As promised during last week’s Tablescape Tuesday, I’m here this week to fully recap one of the weddings we recently attended.  My husband and I had the pleasure of being a guest at two weddings in one weekend!  The second wedding we went to was a 20’s/Gatsby themed wedding, and it was a blast.  I was amazed at how all of the guest’s really got into the theme and dressed the part.  There were sequenced flapper dresses, boas, and three-piece suits everywhere.  It really got the guests’ involved with the wedding too.

Pinterest Graphic-Gatsby Themed WeddingHere’s my full recap!  First was the amazing location.  How does getting married at a mansion sound?  The Grant-Humphrey’s Mansion was built in 1902, but it fit the theme of the wedding so well.

20's Themed WeddingThe couple was married outside on the steps.  The view for all the guests was great because the couple was elevated.  Not much decor is needed because the mansion makes a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony.  It was a great ceremony with friends and family of the couple standing next to them, even dancing and posing as they came in.  The officiant was a close friend of the couple and did a great job of making the ceremony about them and about love with plenty of humor thrown in.

After the ceremony there was a cocktail hour on one of the mansion’s patios.  I loved the signage throughout the wedding, but this one at the bar was particularly funny.

20's Themed WeddingThe theme was carried through to the personalized cocktail napkins.

20's Themed WeddingAfter the cocktail hour, we made our way into the mansion for the reception.  How amazing are the chandeliers and woodwork in the mansion?  The reception space was decorated beautifully with large tables for all of the guests.  Each table had an amazing gold and black color scheme and either gold tipped greenery, feathers, or flower centerpieces.  I especially loved the gold flatware and gold rimmed glasses.

20's Themed WeddingDinner was delicious, I particularly remember the mashed potatoes being amazing!  After dinner, the couple cut the cake.  If there was one thing at this wedding that screamed Gatsby, it was the cake!  Art deco and Gatsby at is finest!

20's Themed Wedding CakeHow amazing is the cake?  Almost too pretty to eat, but we did, and it was delicious as well!  The cake table again had some great signage and decor.

20's Themed Wedding

20's Themed WeddingAfter the cake cutting, there was a champagne tower that was so fun! If you know me or have read this blog at all you know that I love champagne.  There really isn’t a more fun way to serve it than to pour multiple bottles on top of precariously stacked glasses and watch it all run down the tower and fill up the glasses!

20's Themed WeddingAfter the champagne tower and toasts we headed to the lower level of the mansion for dancing.  I didn’t take many pictures here because I was too busy having fun and sipping my champagne.  There was also a photo booth adjacent to the dance floor that had some great props.  These photos were a great little momento from the wedding.
