Halloween is this week and if you’re celebrating differently this year and want to do something just for the grown ups, then this spooky movie night is just the ticket!
Since we’ve been under such strict restrictions on how many people we can gather with, I’ve been craving hosting people. So recently we had a little spooky movie night and made part of it just for the adults.
Spooky Movie Night Timeline
If you have kids and wonder how it’s possible to get to actually have a movie night with friends, I’ve got the perfect timeline for you.
First, you have to be willing to let your friends and their kids sleep over. It’s the only way this works.
Random British observation, people are really willing to sleep over at your house when celebrating. This is definitely a trend I hope to take back to the US when we move back.
Anyway, so invite your friends and their kids over. Serve dinner to everyone. We did pizza and a big Italian chopped salad. What’s a movie night without pizza, right?
You can get this amazing salad recipe here.
Then after the kids eat, put a movie on for them and enjoy a cocktail or two with your friends.
Once the kids’ movie is over, put them all to bed. Once they’re settled then the adults can take over the movie watching party. Enjoy a fun spooky night!
Getting Guests Involved
Don’t people always ask how they can help when you’re hosting a party? Well I’ve got several ways a guest can help especially for a spooky movie night get together.
- Ask a friend to pick the movie
- Put your friend in charge of making a spooky Halloween music playlist
- Have friends mix up their own cocktails
- Put friends to use by letting them make the movie watching area cozy and comfy with blankets and pillows
- Ask friends to bring treats to add to a treat board for everyone to share
We asked our friend to pick the movie and it totally got him involved in the whole get together. It was nice feeling like we were all hosting the night together.
Adult Movie Night Cocktail
I wanted to make a special cocktail just for the adults for this movie night and found this great spooky cocktail on Pinterest.
You should follow me over on Pinterest for lots of great party ideas!
It’s a little involved by making your own blackberry sauce. But you can make it a little easier by buying pre-made blackberry juice.
Set up all the ingredients on a little station and let your friends mix their own cocktail.
I garnished mine with a blackberry on a toothpick. I added some Halloween washi tape the skewer to help it fit into the theme.
Spooky Movie Night Treats
Now the best part of any movie night, the treats! Who doesn’t love getting popcorn and candy at the movie theatre? Well, with this candy board you can do the same thing in your own home.
Just layer on all kinds of candy, popcorn, and other treats for a delicious snack during the movie.
We let the kids dive in first and fill up little bowls to eat while they watched their movie, then had the rest for the grown ups.
I hope if you’re planning on doing something different this year for Halloween yo decide to have a small movie night and ask your friends to stay and enjoy it with you.
We had a fun night and really enjoyed the adults only time together and the treats. We really enjoyed the treats too!
