Are you ready for the cutest little fairy having a Halloween tea party? Well today is all about unconventional Halloween colors and themes.
Halloween Party Inspiration
It all started when I saw this ghost balloon online looking at Halloween decor. I knew I needed to plan a party around that fun iridescent color.
So after finding the balloon I then found these fun iridescent plates online and had to find some spooky things to make this more of a Halloween party.
I found some really fun hanging bats and spider web baskets at a new to me store. I stopped by Tiger as I was running errands one day and it reminded me of Ikea with it’s preplanned walkways through the store. But they had a lot of fun seasonal items and other fun little things.
Now that I had my decor with iridescent colors and spooky bats, I needed to figure out a menu.
Spooky Halloween Tea Party Menu
Now that we’re in England having tea is pretty common. But a Halloween tea party felt unconventional which is what this party is all about.
So using uncommon colors and an uncommon theme I put this party together.
For the menu, we used a lot of tea party foods but made them fit the Halloween theme.
You can see what a proper tea party should include in this post I wrote a couple years ago. But it boils down to a few things. Tea sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats.
For this tea party I made our tea sandwiches in the shape of pumpkins using a cookie cutter.
Then added edible googly eyes to our scones for the second course. Plus the strawberry jam spilling out gives the impression of blood, which is super spooky.
And finally, for the third course of sweets, I had the kids help me make a classic tea party treat and a couple of over the top Halloween treats.
We made rocky road, which is a mixture of melted chocolate, marshmallows, and crunchy tea biscuits. I would have loved to of found some orange marshmallows to really amp up the Halloween theme.
For one of our fun Halloween treats we melted milk and dark chocolate then spread it thin on some parchment paper. I let the kids go crazy with Halloween themed sprinkles and big edible googly eyes. Once it was firm I used a knife to cut it into small irregular pieces and Halloween bark was born.
We also made fake cake balls into little pumpkins. I call them fake because I bought pre-made brownie bites from the store then smushed them up into balls and dipped them into melted orange chocolate. We then put a few green sprinkles in the center on top for the pumpkin stem.
Halloween Tea Party Decorations
To set the party up I used a white backdrop and then hung some black netting that I’ve had for several years in front.
Then I put together a balloon garland using pinks and purples pulled from that iridescent ghost. I recently found this online party shop and I’m loving all of their balloon products. See a balloon garland tutorial here. The ghost is obviously super cute, but those marble balloons might be one of my favorite things.
I just used my normal balloon pump to fill up the ghost and all the other balloons. They’re all still holding on strong and that ghost balloon basically hasn’t lost any air. I’m thinking it will still be around for the Easter bunny next year.
Just a little reminder that you don’t need helium to have some fun balloons.
After I had all the balloons done I hung those fun bats from the balloon garland. It was easy to put them on some string and just loop them over the balloons.
How To Hang Up Party Decorations
Now, let’s talk about the network of tape and string holding all of this up.
Two big tips I can give you when it comes to hanging party decorations is to use fine string or twine and tape things to the wall using painters tape in an “X” formation. The “X” holds the string to the wall in all directions and there’s no chance of anything slipping out or falling down.
The string allows the item that you’re hanging to be right in the spot you want while being able to tape the string out of the way. This works especially well when you’re trying to hang up something that protrudes from the wall where it would be difficult to tape directly to the wall.
Fairy Themed Halloween Party
After all the food was done and the party space was decorated, I asked my little fairy to come enjoy her tea party. Thankfully her fairy costume fit right into the Halloween tea party color scheme.
This color scheme and tea party theme could also totally work for a fairy themed party. What little girl wouldn’t love a fairy party?
I think this kind of a party would be a perfect way to host a Halloween playdate where all the kids could show off their costumes and enjoy some Halloween treats.
Maybe serve hot cocoa instead of tea 😉
Halloween Tea Party Table Top Decorations
For the table top decorations, I used those iridescent plates I talked about earlier and found some fun skull napkins at the Tiger store. Plus, I get so much use out of that striped tablecloth.

I hope you got some inspiration out of this party idea. Maybe it’s to use some unconventional Halloween colors this year. Or maybe it’s how to make your next afternoon tea a little more spooky.
Either way, with Halloween looking different this year for most people, having an unconventional party is a great alternative to the traditional celebrations.
