Welcome to Episode 4 of Conversations with the Hostess!  This week I’m talking to the founder of the Cheltenham MumBoss Club, Kate Starkey.  We cover everything from networking groups that are taken offline to strippers, so it’s definitely a must listen episode!

What I’m Binge-ing

Keeping with the theme of this week’s interview about strong female business owners, I want to tell you about a show I discovered on Netflix called Self Made.

It’s about the first female African-American self made millionaire. It’s only 4 episodes so super quick to get through.

I loved that it shined a light on a culture that I don’t have a lot of exposure to.  I think it’s really important to be consuming entertainment that includes cultures that don’t look like you.

Plus, I was just cheering her on the whole time.  Like, you go build that empire girl!

How to Build an Offline Community In The Episode

This week I talked with Kate, the founder of the Cheltenham MumBoss Club

We talked a lot about how the club got started and how to move from online interactions to offline, in person friendships.

If you are a woman owned business in Cheltenham, England and struggle with raising a family alongside building your business, this is the club for you!  I’m so glad to have found such a supportive group of women.

Kate has great advice for ensuring that a group of women and business owners can be a no judgement zone.  And I can personally attest that the club is inclusive without judgement.

We also talk about how life can cause you to have major career pivots.  Because of that it may just lead to something bigger.

Kate shared how she juggles mothering kids in very different stages of life, and how that affects the types of parties they host.

One of my favorite parts of the episode is listening to Kate talk about how growing up with parents that hosted a lot has impacted her.

I hope I have the same impact on my own kids.

In Kate’s Last Call questions she fills us in on some awesome birthday parties she’s had and a tip that I should probably start doing more of before a party.
