Hey friends, I’m glad to be back with you today to talk all about birthdays!  Specifically how to celebrate with themed birthday gift ideas each week all month long.

I know that sounds like a LOT of gifts, but hear me out and you’ll be surprised that it’s really not that much.

Gift Guide themes, different themes you can use to celebrate with gifts.

My birthday is in about a month and I always start thinking birthdays this time of year.

First though, I’d love to tell you a story about my husband’s birthday.

Back before we had kids, we were both working, enjoying our time together and with friends.  We were living in San Diego and his birthday is in July so the weather is great!  It was going to be his 30th birthday, and I wanted to celebrate it BIG.

30 is quite the milestone, so I planned a big birthday celebration.  I went all out!  We had a party bus, a rooftop cabana, food, drinks, and a ton of friends.  It was such a good celebration we still talk about it today!

I knew that the evening of his birthday wasn’t going to allow for too many intimate moments with just he and I because we were celebrating with friends.  It didn’t seem like there would be any time for me to give him his birthday gift.  So knowing that, I decided to give him themed birthday gifts all month long.

Yep, each week he got a new birthday gift from me.

Man, I was really on top of things before having kids, haha!  Now I barely remember what day it is.

This system worked great because he is a big fan of the whole birthday month celebration.  It’s kind of a joke in his family that he is a little over the top when it comes to his birthday.

And I’m glad we celebrated it big that year, because now his birthday is sandwiched right between both of our kids birthdays and is usually overshadowed.

Anyway, so each week I gave him a new gift.  It really stretched the celebration out over a longer period of time.  The gifts kind of built up to the biggest gift during the week of his birthday.

I spent about the same amount as I would for a bigger gift to celebrate a milestone birthday and stretched that money out over four different gifts.

It was great, and I can still tell you what each of those gifts were, and he can too.

So I wanted to share a few different ways you can celebrate a birthday, be it yours or someone you know, with a birthday gift a week.

There are some really great themes to doing this too that I’ll share below.

And if you want to know other ways to celebrate your birthday all month long, be sure to read this post here.

10 Themed Birthday Gift IdeasThemed birthday gift ideas, pick one theme and give four gifts one per week to celebrate all month long

1. Sports Teams

Use the birthday girl/guys favorite sports teams as a way to do four gifts.  One gift for their favorite baseball team, one for football, one for basketball, and one for hockey.  Or whatever sport they prefer.  Or even a gift from four different players on their favorite team.

2. A full Outfit

I love this idea!  One week give them shoes, then the next pants, then a shirt, and finally accessories.  By the end of their birthday month they will have their whole outfit.

3. Books

One book a week that they’ll love to help build their library.

4. Tickets

Such a fun idea to give a gift of one ticket a week.  Maybe it’s four tickets to their favorite band, or even a movie they want to see.  Then invite friends to use the other tickets and it’s a fun night out with friends to celebrate a birthday.

5. Dinner Out

Is the person you’re celebrating a foodie?  Give them a gift of dinner out to a new restaurant each week during their birthday month.

6. Classes

Celebrate all month by trying a new class each week.  A cooking class, dance classes, pottery, or archery.  You will have learned so many new skills by the end of your birthday month.

7. A Project

Are you celebrating someone that is working on a project?  Or loves to create things?  Try gifting them one tool a week they may need to complete the project their working on.

8. Classic Elements

Use the classic elements, earth, wind, water, fire, to inspire you to give a gift each week.  Maybe you plant a flower one week, fly a kite together another, go boating for a third, then make s’mores around a fire to celebrate the final week of the birthday month.

9. Directions

Use the cardinal directions, north, south, east, and west to inspire a weekly gift.  Maybe a day trip in those directions to visit a new place?

10. Seasons

The four seasons is a great way to gift someone a gift a week.  Maybe buy them something you know they’ll love to use during each of those seasons.  You won’t just be celebrating all month, but for the full year to follow when they use your gift in the spring, summer, fall, and winter.

Did I inspire you to give gifts all month long?  Even if you don’t stretch out your gift, hopefully these themes give you some birthday gift ideas for that hard to buy for person.

Happy gift giving season!  Birthdays, holidays, hostess gifts, so many ways to celebrate the people in your life.
