Have you ever started to bake a fun treat only to realize you were missing one or two key ingredients? This happens to me ALL. THE. TIME.
It’s so frustrating isn’t it?
I’ve got you covered today with a checklist for all of those essential baking tools and ingredients you’ll need this holiday season.
The few weeks leading up to Halloween is the perfect time to inventory your pantry. See what you have and what you need to stock up on.
You know, so you don’t have to make any last minute calls to your neighbor’s asking to borrow an egg or a cup of sugar.
I created a quick checklist of some of my most used ingredients when I’m baking for the holidays.
Holiday Baking Rotation
My holiday baking tends to be the same things every year. The essential baking tools on this list will last me year after year. Do you bake the same things every year for the holidays?
Or do you like to mix it up and try new stuff?
My typical rotation involves:
- Libby’s Pumpkin Pie
- Pecan Pie
- Sweet Potato Casserole
- Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Sugar Coolies
- Almond Bark Cookies
- Derby Pie
- Christmas Morning Rolls
What’s in your rotation?
How to Use the Essential Baking Tools Checklist
Here’s the checklist for you to print out and store in your pantry. Use the next week or two to inventory, purchase, and stock up on those things that you know you’ll be reaching for a lot over the next couple of months.
I like to have a back stock of the most used ingredients like flour and sugar. I have a container on my counter where I bake, and another back stock container in my pantry.
This checklist is great for some of those lesser used essential baking tools too. If you’re not using them regularly you may not be aware that you’re almost out of say, baking powder or almond extract.
Sit down with your favorite holiday recipes and figure out how much of each ingredient you’ll need. Do this for both Thanksgiving and Christmas so you’re prepared going into the holidays.
Not having to worry about one more thing during an already busy time is going to be so nice, right?
