Welcome to the holiday season!  Do all of the holiday festivities overwhelm you and stress you out?  Or does this holiday season look differently because of no travel and less gathering?

If you’re feeling a little lost because of all that is going on this holiday season, this week’s podcast episode is going to get you all set to take on the holidays.

This is one you want to listen to before scheduling anything this holiday season.  Listen below and use the planning worksheet I’ve provided to set your priorities for the holidays this year.

Holidays got you stressed? Feeling overwhelmed this year? A little planning of what your holiday priorities are will help you have a more intentional holiday season.

Why We Need to Set a Holiday Priority

Have you ever felt so overbooked during the holidays that you are stressed and overwhelmed?  Or so busy that you just forget to do the things you actually want to do?

When we decide what’s important to us it makes us more intentional about how we spend our time.

Making those decisions ahead of time means we don’t get disappointed and we set expectations. Setting expectations with kids is so important so they don’t get let down or worse lose their minds when they don’t get what they want.

Laying the foundation of what your family is going to focus on during the holidays will allow you to gear all of your traditions and activities throughout the month to support your main priority.

Holiday Planning Worksheet

I’ve put together this worksheet to help you and your family figure out what your priority is this holiday season plus what activities to celebrate this month that will support your main focus.

There are a few categories that will help you narrow down what you plan on doing during this season.

I’d love for you to take a few minutes with your family and talk through the things that are most important to you.

Then pick 2-3 things in each category that support your main priority and set a date to accomplish them.  Take it up a notch and set a reminder on your phone or in your calendar to actually do the things you’ve planned to celebrate for the holidays.

Things to Bake or Cook

how to turn baked goods into gifts, gifts from the bakery, christmas cookies, homemade christmas gifts

Treats and sweets are such a big part of Christmas, so why not plan exactly what you want to make this year. This will help you to ensure you have all the ingredients on hand and set aside the time to actually make the cookies, treats, and candies.

Don’t forget to make sure whatever you are baking supports your main holiday priority.

Crafts to Make

Christmas tablescape, Christmas table settings, Christmas table decor, rustic table decor, rustic Christmas centerpiece

Are there things you tend to make every year around the holidays?  Homemade ornaments, garlands, snowflakes, or wreaths.  Don’t forget to do them in all the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

Plan when you’ll do them and make sure you have all the supplies on hand.  Use the holiday priority planning worksheet to write it down and keep track of how you’ll get crafty this season.

Holiday Entertainment

Doesn’t this time of year make you want to just play games with your family or do a puzzle? How about watching seasonal shows like The Nutcracker or nostalgic movies.

The holiday priority planning worksheet will help you to remember to do those fun things.  And if

Holiday Traditions

This section of the worksheet is where you want to put all those special traditions like seeing Christmas lights, visiting Santa, Christmas Eve cookies for Santa, or special photos you take on Christmas morning.

Christmas home decor, Christmas home tour, red and green Christmas, Christmas decorations

These traditions are so special I would hate for you and your family to miss out on them because of holiday season overwhelm so keeping this worksheet handy so you can reference it is a must.  Don’t forget to take that yearly photo or read the sentimental book your kids love.

Giving Back

This time of year is all about giving back.  I sometimes have so many good intentions to do nice deeds but get so busy the season passes without actually doing the nice things.

Naming the activities you’re going to do that give back will help to remind you to make the time to do them.
