Who is getting so excited for Thanksgiving next week?  If you still haven’t even thought about it, don’t forget I have you covered with this planning worksheet.

But today we’re going to talk all about the things that happen after you stuff yourself with turkey.  Gifts!  Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, it’s all about getting the best gifts at the best deals.

But what do you have to do after you get all those gifts?  You have to wrap them, right?  Some people love wrapping gifts and some hate it.

Personally I love it, but were you surprised by that? Just like with throwing a party, I like to be organized when gift buying, wrapping, and giving.  So I always make a list.

I’ve created this holiday gift wrap tracker below to help you and me.  It lets you list out all the people you need to buy gifts for, how much you plan to spend, what you actually spend, if it’s been wrapped and delivered.

I need to write all of this down and add to it over the holiday season because I will inevitably forget to get a gift for someone.  Or even worse not deliver a gift to someone on time.

Random people you may not think to get a gift for that would probably appreciate it:

  • Your kids’ teachers
  • Regular baby sitters
  • Neighbors
  • Bosses and CoWorkers (if that’s allowed)

How to Use This Holiday Gift Wrap Tracker

So I use this holiday gift wrap tracker by sitting down after Thanksgiving and writing all the people out on the list and then coming up with great gift ideas for them.

If you do this ahead of time, you could put it to use on Black Friday or Cyber Monday and save a bunch of money on your gifts.  But that only happens if you have this tracker and are organized.

Once I’ve written down all the things I’ll need for the season, I can put the tracker in my wallet or somewhere I’ll regularly see it while out.  Just be sure to be discreet with this if you have sneaky little kids or a spouse that will try and find out their gift ahead of time.

If you keep the list with you it may be helpful when you’re out and about to check who you still need to purchase a gift for.  Or if you have some extra time run to the store and grab the last couple things you need.

Once you have everything purchased hang the tracker in the area you’ll be doing most of your wrapping.  As you wrap things you can check them off of your list.

Gift Wrapping Party and Motivating Podcast

I just listened to such a motivating podcast about getting all of your shopping and wrapping done by December 1st.  Wrapped and Done by December 1!  Brilliant.

You can listen to the podcast, Memories in Moments with Allison Carter here.  And you can find her guest’s guide to throwing a gift wrapping party here.

I came away with a couple really great points.  First, if you get all of your shopping and wrapping done by December 1st, you have the entire month to enjoy the pretty job you’ve done on wrapping your gifts.  More info on wrapping pretty gifts below.

Plus, the stress of late night gift wrapping is totally gone the entire month of December!  Who doesn’t want that?

I completely agree that having an intentional list of what you’ll be buying helps you stay on budget, reduces impulse purchases, and keeps your holiday stress as low as possible.

Everyone loved this video from a year ago on my Facebook page.

I talked about how to properly measure your wrapping paper so you don’t end up with a bunch of extra.  Or don’t use enough and have to do that dreadful wrapping paper patch job.

Plus, I show you how to get ribbon really tight, and fun things to add to your gifts to make them even more festive.

It’s a really helpful video for newbies and gift wrapping pros, I highly recommend you watch it.
