What I’m Binge-ing This Week

This week I’m sharing that I binged the entire 6 seasons of Gossip Girl on Netflix for a few weeks before Christmas.  It was A LOT!  But it was a fun, light-hearted show that I completely missed when it originally was on TV.

Netflix has since removed it from their line up, but when it originally aired I was busy in the beginning of my Navy career.  During that time I was working a lot, underway out to sea, and deployed.  So there were a lot of pop culture things that I just completely missed out on.

I’m glad I caught up on this one though.  It made me miss dressing up and going places.  That’s why my family and I have been doing something fun while we’re in lockdown (again, for the third time! For many more weeks!).  We’ve been having a little dress up on Fridays.

We’re calling it fancy Friday and you can see all of our outfits on my Instagram @thedailyhostess.

What’s on the Episode

This was such a fun conversation and just goes to show that you don’t really know someone until you have a longer conversation with them.

I met Amy through a blogging group we were in while we lived in Colorado.  Who knew she had so much hosting and party experience? Plus her whole other life living in NYC was so fun to hear about.

Check out some of the things we discussed and be sure to listen to the episode.

  • When talking about living and hosting in New York City, Amy had lots of great advice when trying to host in a big city with limited space in apartments and houses.
  • I loved her mindset of approaching strangers and new people as already being your friends and trusting them rather than being reserved around other people.
  • Amy and her husband Tim are traveling nomads. Thanks to reaching their financial goals they were able to retire early and have starting living and traveling all over the world.  She has so much to say about how to make a new place feel like home when you’re moving so frequently.  Plus she shares how to make friends while traveling the world. Very applicable to those of us in the military.
  • Her thoughts on how social media has taken away birthday cards was so funny, but so true!
  • She is an epic extrovert and I loved hearing how she scheduled time to spend with old friends and family when visiting them.  This is definitely something I’ll be putting into practice when we visit our family again.
  • The built in friendships from her and her husband’s Youtube channel has been a blessing for them as they meet their viewers moving around the world.
