Who else is ready to start hosting and inviting people into their homes again?  I know I am! But you probably need to organize before you can start hosting?

Gathering still isn’t allowed where we live, and I can understand those that aren’t doing it yet to maintain distance and safety.

However, one of these days we’ll be able to host again and now is the perfect time to organize and get ready for guests.

My guest on the podcast today not only has such fun ideas for the whole family to celebrate, but she has so much knowledge on how to organize your life so that you have time to celebrate and enjoy the party.

She shares so many great party organizing and celebrating ideas on her podcast “Something to Celebrate” and that’s what I’m binging this week.

What I’m Binging

I’ve followed Amy from Suburban Soiree on Instagram for awhile, but was so excited to see that she also started a podcast.

Something to Celebrate is so fun!  She not only shares lots of party ideas, but most are ways to celebrate everyday in your life.

Things to incorporate into your everyday that are going to make them more special and memorable.

I also love that her episodes are around 20 minutes, so it’s just a quick burst of simple ways to incorporate celebrating into your life.  I always walk away inspired to make a memory or host people.

What’s in the Episode

Listen to the episode with Amy and hear all of her party organizing ideas here.

We also talked a lot about the key to making deep connections with friends, kids parties, and ways to spend intentional time with your family making memories.

  • One interesting fact is that we both used to live in the same town.  Amy still lives there, but we didn’t really connect until after I moved to England.  Instagram makes the world such a small space doesn’t it?
  • Amy started her career in journalism as an on air news caster and TV host.  The skills she learned there certainly help her during her podcast.  But I loved that she said her curiosity of people has helped her to host guests in her home.
  • She is the queen of fun themed movie nights!  Her family gets to experience a fun, themed night each Friday.  She also sells a lot of her movie night printables (link below) so you don’t have to put any effort into coming up with stuff yourself, just use what she shares!
  • After talking with Amy I know I really need to step up my organizing game.  She has a seasonal planner that allows her to get organized for each celebration.  Her binder of party gear pictures is another level.  Overall though, I love that she encourages you to use what you have to host a party, and you can’t do that if you don’t know what you already have.
  • We talk a lot about throwing kid parties, including a fun themed party she had for her son.  She gave us all permission to limit the amount of time and space a kid party takes in order to preserve our sanity.  That’s exactly what I needed to hear!
  • Amy and her friends have an amazing supper club that has led to really deep connections.  Listen to see how to start your own supper club.
  • Overall, we talk a lot about how you need consistency in growing relationships and getting people to feel welcome and comfortable in your home.  If our goal is to have deep connections that last a lifetime, then sharing our struggles openly is the gateway for those connections to happen.
